Ahead of the preparation towards reopening of Schools, the Students’ Representative Assembly of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta led by Hon. Olufemi Owoeye has constituted a 7-man committee to liaise with the school management and the Landlord Association over the guidelines set by the Government for the reopening of schools.

Press Club Mapoly had earlier reported that the Ogun state Government through the Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin announced that tertiary institutions in the state can resume from September 21st depending on the decision of the school management.

“Tertiary institutions are allowed to commence reopening from 21 September 2020 as may be determined by their respective Management,” he said

It would be recalled that the Federal Government ordered the closure of schools in March as part of ways to prevent the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

On his part to ensure that all guidelines are met before resumption, the SRA Speaker while speaking with PCM stated that the committee will have a meeting with the Landlord Association over the payment of rental fees and liaise with them on how they will subsidies the fees.

Owoeye said further that they will work with the school management to have a sickbay which will be used as an isolation centre and other necessary facilities to be put in place.

According to the speaker, “Sequel to a meeting between all Students’ Union representatives across Ogun State and the Governor of Ogun State duly represented by his Special Assistant on Education; Comrade Adeyemi Azeez on August 22nd, 2020 in which all Students’ Union representatives were directed to form a 7-man Students’ Committee on Resumption.

“This directive was further substantiated by the Federal government’s approval for school reopening on September 3rd, 2020, and subsequently Ogun state government on September 7th, 2020. I write to notify you of the formation of the said committee and to introduce its members.

“This committee will be responsible for liaising with the Directorate of Students’ Affairs regarding preparation for the resumption of academic activities on campus.

” Consequently, we expect the school management to fully involve the committee in all preparations towards school reopening and to be an extended invitation to meetings as well as other activities that may be required.” he said

The SRA speaker will serve as the Chairman, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Elegbede, Sodiq as the Vice Chairman, the Clerk, Hon. Oyeyemi Gbemileke as the Secretary.

Other Members of the Committee include; SRA Majority Leader, Hon. Abolade, Kazeem, SRA member, Hon. Wahab, Kafayat, Amir (President) of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Mallam Dauda Idowu, and the President of Joint Campus Christian Fellowship(JCCF), Miss Bankole Deborah.

Meanwhile, the school management has not declared any official date yet for resumption.
