O’Connor attended East Aurora High School and was an Aurora native. The University of Illinois and the University of Notre Dame Law Schools awarded him degrees later on.

Along with being an Alderman At Large, he practiced law in Aurora and presided over the finance committee of the city council for 32 years.

His wife Mary, sons Thomas and John, and four grandkids are left behind.

On Sunday, October 16, a public visitation will take place at Healy chapel from 1 to 7 o’clock.
