Hundreds of inmates have managed to flee from a medium federal correctional facility in Kabba, Kogi State’s Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, after unknown gunmen besieged the facility on the Kabba-Lokoja highway on Sunday night and Monday morning, September 13.
The gunmen assassinated the facility’s military guards before attacking the prison guards and releasing the inmates.
Over 100 inmates have supposedly been re-arrested, with an unknown number of others returning willfully.
The State Commissioner of Police and other leaders of security agencies have gone into action, according to Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 8, Ayuba Edeh, who confirmed the occurrence.
In other news, Aisha Buhari, the First Lady, who is notorious for criticizing some of her husband’s officials, has uploaded an Instagram post that appears to be intended to Isa Pantami, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy.
On Sunday, September 12, the First Lady released a video of Pantami crying during one of his talks. After his reciter delivered a verse from the Holy Quran, the minister sobbed. The verse was taken from Surah Maryam and read as follows:
“That is the Garden we shall give as their own to those of Our servants who were devout.”
Pantami who cried after the verse was read, said “O Allah! Make me one of them. O Allah! Make me one of them!”
Sharing the video, Aisha attached a caption a short Hausa caption to it. The caption “A chire tsoro a yi abinda ya dace”, translated to “Be courageous to do the right thing” in English.
She reposted the video and captioned;
Tafsir na Malam kan tsoron Allah ba tsoron mutum ba!
Da aka cire tsoro da son Kai aka shiga Jihar Zamfara, abubuwa sun fara kyau. Sai a dage a shigo sauran wurare da ke bukatan haka.
