Princess Fifi Ekanem Ejindu is a prominent Nigerian architect, fashion icon, and entrepreneur. Born in Ibadan, a southwestern state in Nigeria, in 1962, she has made significant contributions to Nigeria’s architecture and business sectors.

Princess Fifi Ekanem Ejindu was born to the family of Professor Sylvester Joseph Una and Obonganwan Ekpa Una. Her father was the first Minister of Health in the former eastern region of Nigeria and one of the first indigenous lecturers at the University of Ibadan. Princess Fifi’s mother was educated in England.


She attended the Senior Staff Primary School of the University of Ibadan for her primary education and Queens College, Yaba, Lagos, for her secondary education. She then studied architecture at Pratt Institute, a private design college in Brooklyn, New York, where she graduated in 1983. Princess Fifi was the first black African woman to be awarded a B.Arch. from the institute. She went on to pursue further studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

After completing her studies, Princess Fifi Ejindu worked at a private firm in New York City before returning to Nigeria. She founded Starcrest Group of companies in 1995, with subsidiaries including Starcrest Investment Ltd., Starcrest Associates Ltd., Starcrest Industries Ltd., and more. Her businesses span across different industries, including oil and gas, real estate management, building construction, project management, youth empowerment, and investment opportunities.

Princess Fifi Ejindu is one of Nigeria’s leading female architects, with significant contributions to the architecture industry in Nigeria. She has won numerous awards for her achievements, including the African Achievers Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2013, African Female Economic Champion in 2013, and the Diaspora Excellence Award in 2015. In 2018, she was featured in the Famous African Women Architect Magazine by People Maven.

Princess Fifi Ekanem Ejindu is married to Amaechi Ejindu, a businessman and politician, and their marriage is blessed with a son. She is a great-granddaughter of King James Ekpo Bassey of Cobham Town in Calabar, Nigeria, which permits her to use the title of Her Royal Highness Obongawan King James, a title previously held by her late mother.

In addition to her career as an architect and entrepreneur, Princess Fifi is also a fashion icon known for her unique style and love for African fashion.
