The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has applauded the Nigerian Customs Service under the leadership of Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for preventing Nigeria’s borders from being exploited for environmental crimes.

Director General/ CEO, NESREA, Prof. Innocent Barikor, gave the commendation yesterday in Abuja while congratulating the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service(NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on his election as the Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council at its meeting in Brussels.

Barikor, who said his elevation to the head of the highest decision-making body in the global customs organisation, which comprises 186 customs administrations around the world, has not only validated his impressive track record as an accomplished leader with impeccable qualities. Still, it will assist him in strengthening the inter-agency collaboration and synergy between NESREA and NCS in preventing Nigeria’s borders from environmental crimes.

The director general also praised Adeniyi for recreating the Nigerian Customs Service, adding that he has infused the needed innovation and modernisation to achieve remarkable progress in the service operations at various borders across the country, setting a standard in excellence and commitment to duty.
