He defined the lecture as “non-sectarian” and “politically wide.”

Barry Rubin said in the Jerusalem Post that, while some in the West regard him as a moderate, he favors the hardline Islamist viewpoint. Rubin sees Qaradawi as a threat because he is a charismatic thinker who can readily mobilize the people.
