FACK CHECK: Did MAPOLY Release A New Academic Calender?

Claim: A proposed academic calendar for first semester 2019/2020 academic session has been making round on social media platfroms claiming that the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta has issued a new academic calendar for resumption.

Verifcation: FALSE , Mapoly has not released any academic calendar.

 

On September 10, a calendar was circulated via Whatsapp claiming to be the new proposed academic calendar for Moshood Abiola Polytechnic suspended first semester 2019/2020 academic session.

The purported calendar reads that MAPOLY will resume on September 21st.

It stated that ND2 students of the Faculty of Environmental Studies (FES), Faculty of Enigineering Technology(FENG), Faculty of Applied Science (FAS) and Faculty of Information Technology (FCIT) will commence lectures and revision for three weeks between September 22nd to October 9th.

Also, the calendar stated that HND2 students across all faculties will resume for lectures on September 28th and write exams for two days between September 29th and 30th.

According to the calendar, HND1 Students for all faculties are to resume October 5th and commence exams for a period of one week between October 6th and 9th. It also says ND1 Students are to resume October 12th and write examination for one week between October 13th and 16th.

FACT CHECK:

Press Club Mapoly, in verifiying the authenticity, observed that the calendar has no name of institution on it.

Also, the calendar indicated faculties and date of resumption. However, MAPOLY has no faculty but Schools and departments.

In further research, it was revealed that the calendar belongs to Osun State College of Technology, a tertiary institution in Esa Oke, Osun State not Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta.

 

 

 

CONCLUSION:

The Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic is yet to announce a fixed date for resumption and a new academic calendar has not been issued.

 

Press Club Mapoly thereby urge students to disregard any fake calendar and rumours regarding resumption circulating on social platforms.
